This coincides with a different poll done by Gallup revealing that the average age workers in 2019 plan to retire at is age 65, five more years to the age 60 retirement plans by workers from more than two decades prior.

Scottsdale ranks third in the financial research firm's report, with only Orlando and Tampa ranking higher than the Arizona city on the list. A popular area for "active adults" and retirees, Scottsdale gets impressive marks for quality of life with what it offers for the recreation and the arts.

Tempe and Tucson makes it to the top 50, occupying the 35th and 36th places respectively. Extend the list to the top 100 and the report adds five more retiree-friendly Arizona cities: Peoria, Gilbert, Chandler, Phoenix and Mesa.
