Phoenix And Buckeye Lead Fastest Growing AZ Cities!
The Census Bureau has once again crowned Phoenix as the No. 1 US city with its population growth from 2018 to 2019 which saw 26,317 new residents. The fifth largest city in the country with a total estimated population of about 1.68 million also boasts the largest numeric increase in America from 2010 to 2019, with 234,301 residents added in that decade.
On the other hand, Buckeye follows Phoenix as the second-fastest growing city in the nation for that decade with a 56.6% population increase; from 50,851 residents back in 2010, it now estimates 79,620 Arizonans with a 7.1% increase from 2018 to 2019.
A key Arizona city between Phoenix and Los Angeles, Buckeye's population boom is credited by its officials to its land and the economic opportunity it presents. The westernmost suburb of Phoenix is located across 640 square miles of land and with only 5% developed at present, its undeveloped territory attracts interest for affordable housing, planned communities and relocation sites for companies.
Other Arizona cities also ranked among the 50 fastest growing places in the country in the past year. Goodyear ranked 16th with 4.8% growth off 3,967 new residents followed by Maricopa City at 4.2%. Goodyear also placed 14th fastest growing city for the 2010-2019 decade by growing 33.1%.
Tucson posted 3,215 new residents to reach 548,073 citizens strong to let it ranked 33rd while Mesa placed 35th with its 518,012 total population, out of which 10,067 Arizonans were added in the past year. Surprise makes it to the in 43rd spot with 2.9% while Casa Grande's 2.8% grabbed 45th place.
