Luke AFB & 161st ARW Honors AZ Frontliners With May 1st Flyover

In honor of Arizona's healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential personnel on the front line of the fight against COVID-19, Luke Air Force Base (including the  56th Fighter Wing and the 944th Fighter Wing) along with the Arizona National Guard 161st Air Refueling Wing will be having a community flyover this Friday, May 1, 2020 at approximately 3:10 p.m. local.

The flyover will last 50 minutes with the formation of 15 aircrafts passing over through Buckeye, Luke Air Force Base, Litchfield Park, Surprise, Waddell, Goodyear, Tolleson, Phoenix Metro, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Deer Valley, Glendale, Peoria, Sun City West, and El Mirage. The formation will be comprised of seven F-35A Lightning IIs and seven F-16 Fighting Falcons flying out of Luke Air Force Base while one KC-135 will be coming from the 161st ARW.

While residents in the areas along the flight path will be able to see the formation from the safety of their homes (with a few seconds of jet noise), they are reminded to maintain social distancing, refrain from traveling to landmarks, hospitals and gathering in large groups. Viewers are welcome and encourage though to tag Luke Air Force Base on social media in photos and videos of the formation with the hashtag #LukeSalutes, #AirForceSalutes, and #FlyoverFriday.
