Street Scout, azcentral.com's neighborhood and housing site, has come up with a list of the top ZIP codes for rising prices in 2017. Aside from upscale Valley neighborhoods, the list includes and are headed by affordable neighborhoods with first time buyers and investors helping to propel home prices in this group.

  1. 85009 - While it might be the first for the biggest price, this west-central Phoenix ZIP is the second most affordable Valley neighborhood is this west-central Phoenix ZIP. Spanning from Encanto Park across Interstate 17 with a 29.2 percent price jump from the prior year, the 2017 median house price in this neighborhood is $124,000.

  2. 85040 - A South Phoenix neighborhood, the median house price for the tenth most affordable neighborhood rose 25 percent in 2017 to to $165,000.

  3. 85004 - Jumping more than 20 percent thanks to downtown Phoenix's historic and new infill houses, the 2017 home median price for this ZIP reached $336,625.

  4. 85253 - Home prices in the Valley’s most expensive neighborhood, Paradise Valley, climbed almost 17 percent to $1.4 million.

  5. 85012 - The past year saw a 16.3 percent increase for north-central or Uptown, Phoenix’s priciest neighborhood, reaching a median of $552,500.

  6. 85015: Climbing 15.7 percent, the median for this northwest central Phoenix neighborhood which features Christown Spectrum mall and a few historic neighborhoods reached $209,950.

  7. 85363: This West Valley ZIP covers Youngtown and for 2017, recorded a 15.4 percent increase to home prices with a median of $155.450.

  8. 85043: Located in southwest Phoenix, home prices in this neighborhood went up 14.8 percent to $186,000.

  9. 85033: This Phoenix Maryvale neighborhood which features Desert Sky Mall also has prices rising almost 15 percent to $155,000.

  10. 85307: Found next to Luke Air Force Base, this Glendale neighborhood has its median home price jumped 14.3 percent to $200,000. (The Surprise ZIP 85378 also saw its home media price increased to $200,000 with a 14.2 percent climb.)

 

And as housing prices continue to go up in most neighborhoods, housing market watchers feel that 2018 could perform better than 2017.
