Intel Investing $20 Billion In Chandler, AZ Expansion! header image.

In what is being described as the largest private investment in Arizona history, Intel announced Tuesday, March 23rd, a $20 billion expansion for its Chandler Ocotillo Campus.

Part of this expansion to its semiconductor manufacturing operations in the state, Intel is building two new fabrication facilities on the campus, bringing 3,000 construction jobs, 3,000 tech jobs and 15,000 more jobs indirectly.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey remarked at the announcement as "further evidence that the state of Arizona is a jobs juggernaut." He added that "It means that we're proving once again that Arizona is the best place in the world to manufacture high-tech semiconductor chips."

Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke released a statement stating that “Intel’s continued expansion of its largest, most advanced manufacturing site in the world exemplifies the presence of innovation in Chandler,” to which he credited "A talented workforce, excellent quality of life, proactive planning and decades of infrastructure investments.”

Intel first came to Arizona in 1980 with a production facility, growing to become the largest employer in Chandler. The $20 billion expansion is preceded by a $7 billion expansion in 2017. Once the new facilities are operational, over 15,000 Intel employees are projected to be working in Chandler.

Jim Evers, Vice President and Factory Manager of Intel Corporation, spoke of their history with the city and state a release. "We are proud to have a 40-year legacy of innovating in Arizona and are grateful to the city of Chandler for creating a business environment that encourages these types of investments.”
