Gilbert and Chandler, AZ In Top 10 Best Places To Raise A Family

Out of 182 US cities, two Arizona cities ranked in the top 10 best places for raising a family in a 2019 Wallethub survey. The survey included 150 of the most populated US cities and measured how conducive to family life each place is based on 47 relevant metrics categorized under five key dimensions: family fun, health & safety, education & child care, affordability and socio-economics.

Gilbert placed 7th with its highest marks coming from the fun and recreation category thanks to its many amenities and attractions as well as education with its nationally ranked K-12 system. It also made the top 5 cities with the highest percentage of families with young kids and lowest violent-crime rate per capita. On the other hand, Chandler ranked 9th, scoring highly in the same categories as Gilbert with its array of  parks, recreation facilities, aquatic centers, museums and attractions and range of choices in schools. Notably, Gilbert and Chandler were also in a 2018 study on the top 10 cities to buy a family home by another website.

While WalletHub admits that the survey is not the end-all be-all due to personal preferences and the limits of public data, they hope these findings shed light on cities that would-be movers can consider for their next location that will allow them to live a comfortable life. The WalletHub article on the survey notes that the average American moves an estimated 11.4 times in a lifetime.
