Now don't limit yourself to thinking the Arizona landscape only offers winter getaways, stay cool this summer with these 13 select destinations in the Grand Canyon State!

Scenic Skyride - Stay cool while enjoy breathtaking views of northern Arizona when you ride up to the 11,500 feet summit of an extinct volcano.

Lava River Cave - This mile-long lava-tube cave can get as cool as 42 degrees and get very dark before you've gone in for long. Be sure to dress in warm clothes and sturdy shoes with at least two light sources.

Sunrise Park Resort Lift Rides - Ride the lift up Sunrise Mountain along with your mountain-bike rentals then cruise down ski trails.

Mogollon Rim camping - You can actually just drive around until you find a grat campsite on or below the Mogollon Rim. Dispersed camping is offered at the national forests.

Grasshopper Point - Shaded and cool, this large swimming hole in Oak Creek Canyon is a popular day-use site.

Tonto Natural Bridge State Park - Home to what is believed to be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world which measures 183 feet high and stands over a 400-foot-long, 150 feet wide tunnel.

Woods Canyon Lake - A popular destination during summer, this 158 acre lake atop the Mogollon Rim offer trout, store and boat rentals and an easy, mostly flat 5.5-mile trail looping around the water as well as camping in nearby campgrounds.

Grand Canyon North Rim - For a change, try the North Rim where the trails stay on stop instead of going ito the canyon like the South Rim trails. Expect plenty of awe-inspiring views via scenic drives and overlooks.

Chiricahua Mountains - A wonderland of bizarre rock formations and craggy canyons, the Chiricahuas is a great alternative for those looking for lesser-known wildlife destination.

Big Lake - Camping and hiking galore in one of the most popular White Mountains lakes with fishing opportunities for rainbow, brook, cutthroat and Apache trout.

Lyman Lake - Bring your own boat to this 1,500-acre reservoir that happens to also be a state park with boating and camping facilities. Anglers can fish for walleye, catfish and largemouth bass at the western end of the lake.

Hawley Lake - Another scenic summer getaway offering camping and fishing opportunities but this time on the Fort Apache Reservation looking out on hills of spruce, aspen and pine. A $9 tribal license allows you to fish in the lake which hosts rainbow trout, Apache, brook and brown trout.

Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course - Roped bridges and logs, Tarzan ropes, zip lines, nets, tightropes, climbing walls- test your stamina, agility, problem-solving skills and mental toughness in a playground in the trees!
