2,000 New Jobs Coming To AZ With $1 Billion Nikola Semi-Truck Plant

After 12 months and out of 30 possible locations in nine states, Buckeye, AZ has been chosen for the site of Nikola Motor Company's new hydrogen-electric semi-truck manufacturing headquarters facility.

A joint announcement by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and the Utah-based company revealed the selection of the Phoenix suburb as the location for Nikola's zero-emission facility. Trevor Milton, CEO and founder of Nikola Motor Company, also announced the transfer of their R&D and headquarters to Arizona immediately.

A number of factors including the state's pro-business environment, engineering schools, educated workforce and direct access to major markets has led to the decision to choose the seventh fastest growing city in the country. The project will create 2,000 new jobs and more than $1 billion in capital investment by 2024 in the Greater Phoenix region.

Development of the one million-square-foot facility is projected to begin by the end of 2019 at a 500-acre parcel at Sun Valley Parkway and the future Wintersburg Parkway. The site also happens to be at one of the entrances to Douglas Ranch/Trillium, a new master planned community which is expected to have more than 300,000 residents.
